Church Farm Barns

I hate to say it, but I really wouldn't bother. For the price, literally any other hotel would be an improvement. This is an older establishment, slightly run-down and set up as a holiday rental. Taking a room alone is clearly an after-thought option. There is no staff as such. You get met by someone at 4pm, literally handed a key and given no information. The shower only had red-hot water. Unsafe to use, and faulty so there was no adjustment. The radiator was on, despite 30 degree heat. No AirCon, and room ridiculously hot. Bed hard The doors are ill-fitting. The walls thin, and you can literally hear conversations in the other rooms. Condition, overall, worn and aged. No safety information. The bedroom doors are not fire resistant. The breakfast is actually via another hotel, 5 min walk down the road. The spiel says its 15 mins walk from town. At least double that in reality. The only positive was cleanliness, which was excellent. The worst stay I've ever had. One to avoid, sorry.

This was booked for a family Christmas get together, we have two disabled members so the two groud floor bedrooms sounded a good idea, we took the trouble to call the company to check if it was wheelchair friendly and were told it was. It was not! The house was grubby, lots of cobwebs, the bathrooms downstairs not accessible by wheelchair. Nice big kitchen, the upstairs wet room, you can only stand up in if you are less than 5 foot tall! The bathroom upstairs did not have a plug!The company are not good with communiation and it took 3 months to return our security deposit. Emails do not get answered and the office do not tend to answer the phone. Nothing at all left as a welcome, so make sure you take all of your food estentials, on the plus side Morrisons is a 5 min walk away. Town centre a 15 min walk away.

Booked two rooms through Booking.com and the property took full payment immediately. Ok fine, but when we had to unfortunately cancel they did not refund me. I sent several messages to the property via Booking.com, not one was replied to. I tried calling them at different times of the day but no answer, and no answer phone to leave a message. I emailed the property directly a few times, still no response! Contacted Booking.com’s customer service and they agreed I was owed the refund and it shouldn’t have taken 4 months! They said they would contact the property and ensure I get the money back. This didn’t work as the property ignored all of Booking.com efforts to resolve the issue. In the end after nearly 6 months Booking.com gave me the money back (not Church Farm Barns). I never had such bad customer service. Originally we were going to rebook at some point this year but now definitely not with them. I think we had a lucky escape after reading the negative reviews here, particularly people getting ill after using the jacuzzi 🤢
