Kings Court Hotel

Just got here and have been given a pet friendly room next to reception. We have had a two week road trip and this is the worse place we have stayed in. There is a wedding reception above reception and apparently it will end at midnight. How noisy it gets after that, who knows? We’re all family in our late 60’s, so we’re not impressed and our rooms smell damp! I do not recommend!

The menu seemed to be very limited for a Sunday, with the standard GF options if required. The waitresses were friendly and took our orders promptly once decided on. The quality of the mixed meat selection was generally deemed to be OK, although we overheard somebody on another table comment that the pork had been overcooked, making it hard and inedible. However the choice of a large portion of salmon fillet with vegetables, although impressive on the plate, had far too much rock salt added which had ruined the taste of the salmon. The additional parfait potatoes and broccoli stems served with it were also dissapointing when we tried them...the potoes again being far too salty. The broccoli stems were far to 'ar dente' and as hard as bullets making them very difficult to eat. You could of needed a chainsaw to cut through the stems! The dessert selection was also fairly limited once again, we were told that the chef could make up a fruit salad bowl if anyone wanted that? Overall we all felt that the meals were very dissapointing and we left with various thoughts and further discussion on the food served. The we were aware that the management had recently been changed, and we all felt that since we visited a few times previously, the standards had now dropped substantially, considering that Kings Court is a hotel as well. We doubt we will be returning again unfortunately. There are better establishments we could think of!

This was about the 7th time we have stayed here, rooms a good size. We used tge restaurant twice during our stay. Pkenty of parking. Staff very helpful. It's now a great western hotel, but still retains the feel of an independent hotel.
