Great stay at the Apollo Hotel. Friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms, and a convenient location near the city centre. The free car park with plenty of spaces was a big plus. Would stay again.

I genuinely cannot believe this place calls itself a hotel. The entire experience was appalling from start to finish. First of all, we were blindsided at check-in by being told we had to pay a £100 deposit — something that was absolutely nowhere to be seen when booking. No prior warning, no clear communication, just “pay it or you can’t check in.” Completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, the receptionist was incredibly rude and dismissive. Instead of helping or explaining anything properly, we were made to feel like we were the problem for simply asking basic questions. It set the tone for what turned out to be an awful stay. When we finally got to the room, it was absolutely freezing. Not mildly cold — freezing. We had to keep our coats on inside. The heating was either not working or completely ineffective. The bathroom window wouldn’t close properly, so icy air poured in all night. The toilet seat was broken and loose, which is basic maintenance that should have been fixed immediately. The whole room felt neglected and poorly maintained. Cleanliness was shocking. There was hair everywhere — on the bathroom floor, around the sink, and generally scattered in places that clearly hadn’t been properly cleaned. There was even a fly on the floor when we arrived. The entire space felt dirty and unhygienic. We were genuinely uncomfortable and honestly scared to sleep in the bed because it felt so unclean. The layout made everything worse. The rooms are outside in block-style flats, giving the whole place a bleak, prison-like setup rather than anything remotely welcoming. It felt cold, exposed, and unsettling. This wasn’t just disappointing — it was unacceptable. Hidden charges, rude staff, freezing rooms, broken fixtures, and terrible cleanliness. I would strongly advise anyone considering staying here to look elsewhere.
