Arrived and we had been upgraded to a superior room which was brilliant, absolutely 0 faults for the bedroom which was very clean and spacious and an absolute bargain for what we paid. The hotel itself is beautiful, very well kept and very stylish.
Staff are very friendly and helpful. Great location especially with the tram right outside. We were concerned the noise may be loud due to the bars outside but as we were quite high up (12th floor), we couldn’t hear a thing. Only issues we found were the fact the windows didn’t open at all, I’m sure this is for safety reasons but meant the room was very hot. The aircon is great, but would have preferred a window to open slightly for some fresh air.
Also, the lifts were a bit of a pain due to everyone trying to check out at the same time so found we had to wait for about 10 minutes for a lift as many went past which were too full, also one had an issue where the doors were stuck on ‘door opening’ and wouldn’t close, which was annoying.
I would still definitely stay again when visiting Birmingham, and would recommend to anyone. Such a gem in the heart of the city centre!

Genuinely impressed by our stay here. We used Leonardo Royal as a base for a visit to the nearby Rep theatre. As a family of 4 Premier Inn is our usual go to when we visit places overnight as very few hotels offer family rooms, but somehow managed to bag two x2 double rooms for less than a family room at PI. For the low price I wasn’t expecting too much from Leonardo, but from the wonderful warm welcome at reception, to the cleanliness of our rooms, and the overall air of quality, they definitely excelled.
Comfy beds in well appointed air-conditioned rooms, free tea and espresso coffee pods, complimentary White Co toiletries, and some of the softest towels I’ve encountered.
We didn’t eat here, as we chose to explore the absolute myriad of bars, cafes, and restaurants in what appears to be a lively area of Birmingham.
