Radisson Blu Birmingham

We have held our annual business strategy meeting at the Radisson Blu Birmingham for over five years, so it feels fair to review it based on several visits rather than a one-off experience. This time we stayed in a Superior Room on the 16th floor. While the views across Birmingham were excellent, I’m not entirely sure what made the room “superior”. Other than having air conditioning, it felt much the same as a standard hotel room, and certainly didn’t justify the premium. Unfortunately, breakfast was the biggest disappointment. The quality and choice were well below what I would expect from a four-star hotel and, in all honesty, felt more comparable to a Holiday Inn Express breakfast than a Radisson Blu experience. The hotel itself is also beginning to show its age. There are several areas that feel tired, and a number of fixtures and fittings around the hotel appeared broken or in need of refurbishment. It’s still in a fantastic central location, but the overall experience no longer reflects the standards the Radisson Blu brand is known for. After more than five years of bringing our leadership team here for our annual strategy meeting, I think it’s probably time for us, as organisers, to start looking for a new venue. It’s a shame to say that, as we’ve made many good memories here, but the hotel no longer offers the quality or value that we need for our annual event.

Superb meeting venue. The pre meeting information was excellent. Before, during and after the team provided excellent customer service. Beautiful meeting room. Great lunch. Perfect location near with great transport links.
