The Woodlands Hotel

I booked this hotel 6 months ago knowing I needed accommodation for 2 nights for a conference for work. I arrived late last night after a 4 hour journey to find the hotel in total darkness and no one answering the door or the phone. I was left stranded in the dark with no bed for the night miles from home and the prospect of having pay a small fortune to find an alternative hotel with availability at late notice. I have had no contact from booking.com or the hotel itself to tell me there was a problem with my planned visit or to say that the hotel was now closed and I’d need to find an alternative. Luckily I managed to find another hotel and didn’t have to sleep in my car but still hugely frustrated and cross that I was out in this situation.

Stayed here 2 nights. We chose this because the hotel has secure parking and on a frequent bus route into the city centre . Room was spacious, clean with old fashioned furniture, tv and basic hospitality tray not even a biscuit, bathroom ok but shower took ages to heat up such a waste of water! Main problem hotel on a busy road with traffic noise ( it was hot when we there so leaving windows open wasn’t an option). Also there is a spotlight on the hotel sign which shone through the thin curtains at night. Breakfast adequate with cereals and cooked option, but there were only 2 of us in the huge dining room and my breakfast order was wrong. There are a few restaurants and a pub around 10 minutes walk and 25 minutes bus ride to Birmingham.

Such a lovely hotel. From the moment we arrived until we left it was delightful. Nothing was too much trouble and Mira was a generous host. Would recommend this hotel to everyone, wishing to save a bit of money and travel into the city centre with the great bus service outside the hotel, as well as a Tesco metro directly opposite.
