Beverley Hotel

We booked a room in your hotel on Saturday 11/04/26. We booked online and asked for our check in to be between 14:00 and 15:00. On arrival at 14:50 we were told our room was not ready (it was our anniversary) and the lady on reception went off to see what was happening to come back and say they were cleaning another room so was putting us in another room… at this point I should say I have worked in hospitality for the last 30 years for Hilton as a GM and Fairlawns as Restaurant Manager so I am aware of what goes on behind the scenes at check in when a room is not ready. We were given room 24…. All I can say is wow… the room was musty and not clean, the bed had clearly been ‘thrown’ together. The duvet was hanging out of the cover which had stains all over it and didn’t fit the bed, 3 of the 4 pillows had white pillow slips and the 4 th one was yellowish and no pillow protectors… the room was freezing and the mattress was so hard and there were springs sticking up. The fitted sheet on the mattress didn’t fit and during the night I got my foot caught up in what I thought to be some loose cotton at the bottom of the bed to discover it was where the elastic on the fitted sheet was ripped (probably by the housekeeper trying to ‘make it fit’ ) Next morning having slept in my clothes and my partner sleeping on the floor ( there is no telephone in the room to contact someone to report these things to) and having gone down to reception but no one there during the night, we decided to shower and leave. The shower doors were not put on properly and we had to use 1 of our 2 towels given to soak up the water where the shower doors didn’t close properly! So not only did we not sleep we couldn’t shower properly! At one point during the night we were going to go home but as it was our anniversary we had been out for dinner the evening before ( there was no food available in the restaurant) and had both had alcohol we couldn’t even go home and were stuck there. I would like some sort of explanation of why your supposedly 3 star hotel would probably be closed should environmental health were to drop in unannounced, as I said I have worked in hospitality all of my working life and our experience with you was horrendous. This for us was a last minute booking, and I appreciate that it was a budget room but it should still be clean and facilities fit for purpose, I would not put my dog in the room we were given! Please see some of the pictures I took just so that you can see what we got, we should probably have seen red flags at the wallpaper hanging off the walls in the corridors. I’m sure the press would have a field day. I would like some sort of explanation and definitely a refund for a room that we couldn’t sleep in the bed and where the floor was just slightly more comfortable than the dirty flat mattress. Our anniversary was ruined.

Stayed for 1 night to visit family. Bed was like a brick. The bar wasn't open and no food available. Room was way below an acceptable standard. Walls needed painting, marks everywhere. Road noise was awful, hardly slept. The bath hadn't been cleaned, there was a false nail in the bath

Oh my life, we booked to stay the night after a friend had her vow renewal in the hotel. When we first arrived at the hotel it didn’t have a very nice atmosphere at all it was cold and uninviting. We sat in the conservatory while we waited for our event to start. The cobwebs in the conservatory around the chairs and lights was disgusting. We had two soft drinks and it came to £6.80. We booked in during the wedding and went up to the room.We were given room 9. We were dubious on the way up to the room the carpet on the stairs was FILTHY and the bannister was a mess !!!!! Oh my life we went in saw the state of the room and came straight back out. The pictures are attached but don’t show the true extent. The pillows were like flat slabs and had no pillow protectors on and were in odd pillowcases. The bed had no head board and the wall behind the bed was FILTHY the room was dusty and less than basic. The bathroom was worn and dirty, The smell in the bedroom was like someone had been smoking.
