Europa Gatwick

Went here for a wedding, food was absolutely atrocious, chicken was dry and all the vegetables were frozen and mushy. The children’s meals were served on red hot plates, the adults on cold. Really!!! Most of the staff were unfriendly and miserable. Would give this hotel a wide berth, won’t even go back for a drink, let alone a meal or stay there.

Car parks were all full, it appears the car park is used for parking whilst going on holidays. Very long walk back to the reception; we have mobility problems but were told first come first serve. The room was tired, no usb points in the room and no sockets by the bedside. This is basic these days. The tv didn't work. Three trips to reception to be told receptionist didn't know how to make it work and no maintenance services on site until the morning. The air conditioningdidn'tt work so we left the ground floor windows open as we had given up by then and were leaving at 03.00 am for a flight. We were told we could change rooms, but other rooms may have been the same and there didn't seem any point so we went to bed early. It may have been cheap but it wasn't worth it.

Booked this hotel for a cheer comp in the area. Advantage point was the parking as i dislike searching for nearby parking, plus this was also free..! At first i panicked as it didnt look like much parking was available when i arrived. However, the carpark goes on and around and here there and everywhere, so always a space. Gave my reg in at reception, no payment. Beautiful!! Leading up to my stay, i emailed the hotel a couple of times regarding pool opening times and air con in rooms. I always received efficient ans informative responses from the hotel. Once Booked, i realised it was a Britannia hotel of which, in my opinion, isnt a reputable brand. Anyway, check in day came. The check in was so quick and super friendly. The hotel is dated but i don't mind that at all. Spacious, clean with good facilities was good enough. The room was large with Juliette style balcony doors which over looked the outdoor bar seating area. I thought this would be niosy but it wasnt. The room had a lovely modern bathroom, no loo brush whichi understand why. Enough soft towels and body wash etc provided. Tea & coffee tray. No spare pillow. One pillow each only. I felt the room walls needed a fresh lick of paint and it lacked plug sockets near the beds. We had hairdryer, iron and ironing board missing. But i forgave all that because the room was spotless!!! Bed wasnt the the most comfortable but ive had worse. Bedding to a good standard. I expected stains everywhere but it was fine. Plenty of lighting. No air con but they can provide a fan. Quiet overall and even though the hotel is dated. It was clean and quiet. Therefore, i would return. I didnt use the pool as it was only open 10-5 ish. It would of been nice for it to open a little later but no big issue. Didn't have time to use the bar or restaurant, unfortunately. The surrounding area is quite lovely. West sussex impressed us. Friends stayed in the outer hotel building and said their room was of a more modern finish. I liked it!! Thankyou
