Ibis London Stratford

This hotel is excellent and great value for money. The hotel has very comfortable rooms and offers great comfort. The breakfast is excellent and offers a lot of options.

I stayed here for two nights, just after one of the UK's heatwaves. As soon as we stepped into our room we were shocked how hot, stuffy and humid the room was. The 'Air-con' was throwing out warm air. Next to the controller was sign explaining the system was 'not air-conditioning' but would cool the room if over 22°. We slept through the night as it was already very late, and settled with sweaty disruptive sleep. The next day, I told the staff and they very nicely changed our room to one with an opening window. The 2nd room was better, but still uncomfortably warm, even with the window open and the noisy street. Staff overall were lovely and helpful for as much as they could do. For the high cost we paid for the room (over £280 per night) I can't believe real air conditioning isn't available, with only the lobby and restaurant being the only areas of the hotel cool enough to escape the heat.

The hotel is in easy reach of The London Stadium, Westfield Stratford and Stratford Station. Staff were very friendly. Our room had enough room for us. It is basic but we were just sleeping there whilst attending the Metallica gigs. Coffee/tea in the room but we didn’t try any. Enough plugs/USB ports in the room. Beds are right next to each other like a double but we moved them apart. Beds felt quite small but with the mattress topper, they were fairly comfortable. My brother asked whether there was AC in the room on arrival and were told there was. However, whilst there is an AC unit above the door, it didn’t cool the room down at all. Didn’t go into chill mode even on the lowest temperatures. We had to ask housekeeping for a fan so we didn’t melt! The hallways and reception area were a lot cooler. If you stay whilst it’s hot, ask for a fan. It helps you sleep better. Housekeeping was ok. We had dirty glasses from the bar left in our room and not removed. Towels were basic. And just one hand towel. No bath mat which made showering in the small bathroom, challenging as it was quite slippery so we used the hand towel . Take your own toiletries. There are some there, but it’s an all in one shampoo/handwash/shower gel and a conditioner.
