Far too hot. No air conditioning My major problem though are the subtle service fees. There is the additional booking fee for the room and then additional service fees. For example, one pays £36 for breakfast and then find an optional service fee is added to the bill. Interestingly the amount varies by day. The receptionist didn’t know why it varied. It is optional though. Unlike the service fee for a drink from the bar at 10:30pm. This was added to the bill with no option to remove it. In summary no AC and check your bill when you checkout

Old style hotel with charm and good service. If you have any issue raise it with the staff and it will be sorted. The view from the room over the Thames was a classic. Room a little small, food excellent.

I recently stayed at this beautiful hotel for two nights as a family, as my daughter was getting married nearby. The grounds and surroundings are absolutely lovely, and my daughter and her husband had a beautiful suite, which was perfect for the occasion. However, I was disappointed by some of the additional costs and the overall value for money. Breakfast was £38 per person, which I felt was very expensive for what was provided. Unfortunately, the eggs looked grey and the breakfast itself was fairly basic for the price. My aunt had a room on her own and, while waiting for the rest of us to check out, came downstairs and thought she would have a cup of tea. She was charged £18.50 for one cup of tea, which I found quite shocking. There also seemed to be a service charge added to almost everything. We asked for a bucket of ice to be brought to the room and were quoted £10, so we declined. I would also advise anyone considering booking to be aware that the rooms do not have air conditioning or a fridge. Our room was extremely hot, and the simple fan provided unfortunately just circulated the warm air rather than making the room more comfortable. As we were staying for a family wedding, we also asked if an additional chair could be provided so the hairdresser could do the bridesmaids' hair. The response was hesitant, which was disappointing given the circumstances. It left us with the impression that even a simple request might come with an additional charge. Overall, while the hotel is in a beautiful setting and the grounds are lovely, I felt the experience was let down by the high additional costs and the lack of value for money. Even the deluxe room felt fairly basic for the price. If I were looking to stay in Richmond again, I would choose to stay somewhere else. In my opinion, the hotel is simply not worth the cost.
