We stayed here as we had family to visit down south but also wanted to tie it into a visit into London. This is a great location to do this. It is only a short taxi ride away from Cockfosters station and we got right into the heart of London within 30 minutes. Parking wasn’t an issue and there was an overspill area too. The reception and check in experience was great. There was £75 taken from my credit card but it was returned promptly after check out. Our room was on the second floor. There is a small lift but we opted for the stairs. Given what we paid for the room, I was disappointed to see mucky marks on the bedding and long hairs around the toilet seat and bowl. I raised my concerns at checkout but nothing was really said. The bed was comfortable and the hotel was quiet at night. We had two fans in the room so I think they were expecting it to be hot but we were comfortable. We had a drink at the bar when we returned from London but it was very quiet and the lights were turned off on us at 11. Breakfast was exceptional but the plates were cold so you had to dish up quickly. Staff friendliness throughout our whole stay was excellent. It’s clear that people do love their job. We used a local taxi service and staff there were great too. It’s well worth staying for a walk around the grounds. We did this after breakfast. We would certainly consider visiting again.

This was our first Afternoon Tea at West Lodge Park and it was one of the best we have had. The restaurant manager was extremely helpful and friendly which, added to the delicious delights, made our afternoon extremely enjoyable. Highly recommend for a lovely treat!

My wife and I went for afternoon tea and a tour of Arboretum. The occasion was our 50th anniversary. We had our wedding reception here 50 years ago. The arboretum tour was brilliant. So much information and unusual trees to see, all explained beautifully. However the afternoon teas was a big disappointment. The food was good. It was spoilt by the very poor service. In reality, there was none. The food was put on the table and then we were ignored. We had to go up to the bar on three separate occasions to ask for the pot of tea to be replenished, more cream for the scones as well as more moilk for the tea. In fact another diner gave us their milk as. there was no staff at the bar. We will go back in the autumn to the arboretum, and perhaps for a drink on the patio. But not for afternoon tea. So disappointing.
