Wayside B&B

Firstly this is not fiction this is fact and I am not a keyboard warrior! Exterior and Room Conditions External neglect matched stained interior furnishings and severe bathroom hygiene issues. The photo of the place on the webpage is NOT upto date. £95 per night. Security and Breakfast Issues Insecure window in bedroom, no latch so window would not not lock. I'm a 6'4'' man and not slight and even I was uneasy being in this room, not sure how other would feel! Biscuits out of date, shower head blocked, stains on floor and headboard, toilet in the bedroom and only a wardrobe to block the view. Breakfast was at a circular table in the owners office. No cereal choice - because the owner hadnt had a chance to get to the shops! Poorly maintained bedroom with holes in the walls where old appliances had been, shower rail hanging off, shower tray black around the seals. Unable to sit on the toilet without hitting my knees on the sink! Feedback Delivery and Defense My calm professional feedback met defensive excuses regarding property shortcomings. Please note I will be expecting negative feedback too, not sure how that works. Please see photos, this is not a personal attack I just do not want anyone to go through the same experience as me.

Just enjoyed a lovely week stay in Sycamore Lodge. Great facilities within the Lodge that made it a home from home including a recently installed shower. Hosts are lovely, welcoming and friendly. Each time we spoke they asked if there were any issues. The only issue we had was with regards to the WiFi, we did have 8 devices, and they were able to boost it. Lovely quiet location with woodland to the rear that my children loved to go play in. We enjoyed being able to sit and have a cuppa out the front and to watch the squirrels running around without a care. Local amenities are within a short car ride and within lovely surroundings. Would definitely recommend a stay here and fully intend on staying again in the future.

My husband and I stayed 3 nights in Oak Lodge. We had previously had a week's holiday here (October 2022), so it had the advantage of familiarity, as well as being a convenient place to stay, within easy reach of family who live near Calne. We had a very enjoyable pre-Christmas weekend with our family, but were grateful to have a place of our own to spend nights. Oak Lodge was warm and comfortable, and Jonathon and Lesley are welcoming and friendly hosts.
