The Castle Hotel

The Castle Hotel has a lot to offer. Its location is absolutely central and whilst there is only very limited parking, street spaces are immediately opposite, as is a short stay car park, with a long stay one minutes away. Rooms are pleasant, with plenty of tea, coffee, biscuits, toiletries etc and our bed was extremely comfortable. Traditional breakfast options were generous. Our welcome was efficient and very friendly and it was clear throughout our stay that the staff were well recruited and trained. Without exception they were cheerful, extremely helpful and very happy to answer questions and provide advice. When our lift to a wedding fell through at the last minute, and they were unable to find a taxi for us due to it being Carnival Day, General Manager Dave allowed one of his staff, Sidney, to take us herself. Incredibly kind. It's a traditional rather than boutique hotel, excellent value, with an exceptional level of service.

Excellent Sunday roast. Well cooked. Good selection of vegetables. Friendly efficient waitresses. Reasonably priced. Restaurant area clean and tidy, but could do with some smartening up, if I'm being critical.

Booked very last minute following a disastrous choice of accomadation nearby so had no expectations really but immediately on arrival was greeted by lovely people and given a spotless room. All the staff are helpful and lovely and the management should consider themselves extremely lucky to have them. Parking was a bit hit and miss but there was plenty nearby. We did find the main road a bit noisy but I think that was only because of the extreme heat we had to open the window. Breakfast was nicely presented and again served by a lovely lady I'm a very difficult person to please but I would certainly come here again!!
