Mercure Salisbury White Hart

Not 4 star accomodation more like 2 star. Had a single room which smelt of damp and drains. Carpet was filthy, wooden window was rotten and couldn't shut. Black marks around the walls and ceiling. Building was old with uneven creaking floors, no lift and room was tiny, bathroom had no ventilation or window. Massively overpriced for such poor accommodation.

We stayed in the hotel apartments for one night on a stopover with an handy onsite car park, especially given its position right in the centre of Salisbury, close to the cathedral. Our apartment was lovely and spacious and extremely well finished, great shower with robes and slippers. One of the best hotel beds I’ve ever slept in. The hotel has been extended over time and some of the older parts are a little tired but there is a nice relaxed atmosphere and the staff are friendly and helpful. There is a lovely cool courtyard garden where you can grab a drink from the bar. Breakfast is buffet style with a great choice and all very fresh. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

A very dog friendly hotel, we were meeting family there and they have a dog. We had a ground floor apartment and it was a scorching hot weekend so the air conditioning was wonderful - and it was on when we arrived so that the room was really cool. We didn't really use the facilities in the apartment as we got it to avoid stairs (there is no lift) but it would be easy to self cater from one of these. Our family members had an upstairs room and there were no complaints there either. The staff were lovely, very friendly and helpful and a particular shout out to the young man who was on reception on Friday afternoon and helpfully took photos for up on Saturday evening - nothing was too much trouble for him. We ate in the bar area 2 evenings (because of the dog) and the food was good - better than 'pub grub'. Breakfast was better than average hotel fare, choice of breads too. No natural yoghurt on Sunday but it was very busy and it's a very minor niggle. We would go back.
