Relaxinnz George Hotel

I have stayed at the George on numerous occasions and I cannot wait to return. Everything about the hotel is first class including the building, the facilities, the ambience, the bar and restaurant. What makes it extra special is the staff from the General Manager downwards who provide a service which is second to none.

Dreadful Sunday Lunch. Roast beef overdone and tough, was replaced with slightly pink and less tough slices. Waited 45 minutes for table to be cleared and that was only after we asked for dessert menu! Asked for sugar for coffee, by the time it arrived coffee was cold! We were not tourists, but had brought our Canadian family to experience a good Sunday lunch! Bill came - nothing to compensate for poor food and service, just a non optional food service charge. At a time when the hospitality industry is facing an uphill struggle this experience did nothing to persuade me to return and spend my hard earned cash at the George again!

Stayed at the George for 1 night in July. The rooms were fine as although it was very hot the windows were wide open and a fan & bottled water were supplied. However the experience in the hotel restaurant was very different. Firstly we ordered a starter which never arrived. The only vegetarian option on the menu was out of stock and one of the group was vegetarian. She ended up with a bowl of salad as a main. We ordered Aperol Spritz - again out of stock. A woman on a nearby table said it had been also been out of stock 2 nights previously. We would have gone to another restaurant but were short of time. It was no surprise that the restaurant was almost empty on a Saturday night even though the hotel was almost full. The restaurant needs monitoring by a hotel manager
