Stanton House

Just had an excellent 3 night break here, we loved it. Lovely hotel and grounds, staff were all friendly and helpful. Restaurant food was superb, cream tea delicious. Would definitely book again.

Set in landscaped gardens just outside Swindon, Stanton House Hotel is a real treat. On this occasion we picked up an absolute bargain weekend via Travelzoo but, when compared to our last weekend break at a Warners Reserve Hotel, Stanton House was far superior. The hotel itself is a tastefully extended Manor House with we equipped rooms, a conservatory bar serving lunch looking out over the grounds, a lovely restaurant for breakfast and dinner. The staff are great , extremely friendly and attentive (unlike the Warner’s staff who I think were going for a world record in leaving tables uncleared for hours). Excellent food - we had the afternoon tea on our first day, breakfast in the Cedars restaurant, lunch in the conservatory and then back to the Cedars restaurant for dinner - and plenty of it (my wife’s main had so much chicken that she gave half of it to me. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and the staff we completely on top of keeping it that way. There’s a lovely little church in the grounds with a lot of local history that’s free to enter and the volunteers there were very knowledgeable about the history of the church and the original house. If I had to pick a fault, the only thing I could say was that some areas of the gardens need a bit of a tidy but even then, it’s not enough to worry about and is really being picky for the sake of it. We’ll definitely be returning - highly recommended

If you want to have the worst restaurant service and nasty rude food staff make this your #1 choice when visiting Great Britain. You ask to give them money and order you might as well be on another planet or system island, NY. Asks for ice and it appears you asked to have them cut off an arm. Try and order desert, forget about it, your interrupting their gaggle of talking about the guests. We were in London, Bath, Scotland, all wonderful people. The restaurant staff at this hotel should be deported to California so they can feel at home with the rest of the crazies in this world. Can’t wait for 6am to leave. When visiting this area, keep driving or stay in the field with the sheep. The little boy. Bartender is a punk joke. Terrible terrible restaurant service. Stay away and eat anywhere but here. Managers no where to be found…..
