We enjoyed a family lunch here today. Excellent food and service. But……prior to lunch our elderly aunt toppled over in the car park (no one’s fault) and clearly hurt herself. She managed to walk the short distance into the restaurant with much help but as down safely and enjoyed her lunch.
By 3 pm we were ready to leave and the pub was ready to close. It became apparent that our aunt couldn’t rise from her chair and was in considerable pain. An ambulance was called.
Enter Ethan, the duty manager. Seeing the problem, he let us stay in the pub while we waited and waited. I’m sure he would’ve liked to go home but he busied himself instead.
By 6pm it was again opening time and we were still waiting. By 7 a voluntary paramedic arrived to reassure and assess.
It was clear that our aunt really did need an ambulance . More waiting . Ethan offered drinks twice and we accepted on the second time. These , plus nuts and crisps were on the house. The pub was due to close again at 9pm but Ethan said he’d stay open for as long as necesssry. What a star!
