Lygon Arms

One of the best roasts I’ve had! We went on Sunday for my mum’s 60th and the food was absolutely brilliant. The only disappointment was the draft beer selection, with only Hawkstone available. For a place like this, I’d definitely expect a little more choice on draft. Other than that, a fantastic meal and we’d happily return.

The level of service at afternoon tea was well below what should be expected for the cost. Once seated and served, our server disappeared. One of our party had the milk curdle in her tea. We had to track down a server who then seemed annoyed that we had asked for fresh milk. The email we sent to the hotel expressing our disappointment has yet to receive a response. An enjoyable afternoon tea in the Cotswolds is easily found at less expense. Too bad the customer service at The Lygon Arms is not in keeping with such a beautiful place.

The hotel is resting in its laurels of its previous reputation. The spa facial was amazing. We were three couples for a two night stay. We were in the annex which was ok but the rooms seem a bit dated. The carpets and bathroom look tired. On the Saturday they were reroofing a flat roof with some very heavy duty glue that filled the air. The Grill was OK but not outstanding, descriptions did not match what arrived. The bar team were overwhelmed on the Saturday night with a wedding party and didn’t seem prepared. There were some nice staff. Breakfast is not the hottest and gets very busy at 9 am on a Sunday. On the whole not a luxury experience. The bar team Bryony and Angelo were very welcoming.
