Lygon Arms (I)

We have just checked out after an awful stay. First night the toliet broke and was making the loudest noise throughout the night. Told reception in the morning and was asked “why didn’t we tell them earlier” what at 2am? Came back from our day out and was still waiting for a glass of wine in the courtyard 35 mins after sitting down. Do you think this acceptable?? Staff are shocking and they really need to have some in the art of hospitality. Last morning in our room the drain of the sink and shower were not draining. Lounge and furniture is covered in dust. Do you really think this is the standard of a 4 star hotel??? I don’t!

We have stayed here previously but thought we would just have a drink in the garden on this occasion. We ordered a drink immediately and 20 minutes later it had still not arrived. We chased it and then waited another ten minutes and still didn’t arrive. Other tables were served around us but nothing too fast. Eventually we got fed up waiting and just left without receiving a drink. Over 30 minutes wait for a pint of cider and two reminders is unacceptable no apology and then they will try to charge 10% service charge!!!

We loved our stay at the Lygon Arms. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room was spacious and had a nice bathroom. The common areas of the hotel were absolutely stunning and we enjoyed sitting in the courtyard and later in the bar enjoying a few drinks. The breakfast was great (and the breakfast room was amazing!) The only negative was that there is no air conditioning and no fridge in our room
