This is not a lodge but a bare bones hotel with minimal amenities. The Dining Room serves poorly prepared meals at exorbitant prices and does not serve lunch

The best thing I can say for this place is it's view. If you want more go somewhere else. Lets take it's name Grande Denali Lodge very misleading. This place is not grand, not at Denali National Park and the lodge is the restaurant made of timbers. Sleeping quarters are in adjacent buildings built many many years ago. They are tired and are cheaply built. When the next room ran water it was like it was running in our bath. Extremely loud. If you are unlucky enough to get the second building you are walking uphill to the restaurant/meeting space often. There is a very small area with sandwiches to grab n go, or for your lunch since they don't serve lunch. The person there is beyond rude. Doesn't want to wait on you or help you. In fact the persons who work in this building were all rather rude. I found the employees who worked outside and in the sleeping buildings very friendly. One good thing about this place is it offers a shuttle to everything you want. It is nice and timely.

What an experience this GDL is! Upon arrival at 6:30 PM, a reception with a cake (full of sugar). Various trolleys with laundry in the reception area and the hallways. The room(s) hopelessly outdated, incredibly dusty, and electric from the stone age. How dare cruise company HAL offer this to its customers. And that after an all-in package of a train trip from Whittier to Denali of 10 hours. Even 10 steps back from the HAL ship. It seems that the Princess Lodges across the way are much newer and better.
