Grand View Inn and Suites

Good location, clean quiet rooms, and friendly staff. BUT they have no internet service. In this day and age we expect internet for communications, even if we are on vacation but especially on business. Won't stay there again.

When things go wrong, the reaction makes the difference. My husband and I stayed at the Grand View Inn & Suites recently and had a problem with our room when we checked in. My husband explained the problem to the front desk and since the hotel was sold out, they very nicely offered us a discount to make up for the problem. Great service! The next morning when we checked out, we had to advise the front desk of a major plumbing problem that would need immediate attention because water was spraying out of the wall. We were thanked for bringing it to their attention to prevent major damage and headed to our car. While we were loading up, a lady came running out of the hotel to wave us down. It turned out that she was the manager and she stopped us to apologize for all of our problems and to let us know that there would be no charge for the previous night. Fantastic customer service! I wish every establishment had such high regard for their customers and we will make a point of returning next year.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. This hotel is completely unreliable, unprofessional, and untrustworthy. Our European travel club booked 6 rooms for a group of 11 people months in advance for July. Two months before our arrival, right in the middle of the peak Alaska summer season, the management pulled a shocking and borderline fraudulent stunt. They started messaging us claiming they "do not work with Booking.com" and "cannot find our reservation"—all while replying to us INSIDE the official Booking.com messaging platform, where our confirmed booking number, dates, and names were clearly displayed right on their screen! They completely ignored multiple direct emails (which we tracked as opened) and then had the audacity to tell an international client from Europe to "just make a long-distance phone call" to Alaska during their local business hours because they couldn’t be bothered to reply to an email. It became completely obvious what they were doing: they tried to pressure us into canceling our original booking made at a good rate, explicitly telling us to re-book via Expedia, where prices for July have now skyrocketed. When we refused to fall for this trap and demanded they honor the confirmed rate, they simply forced an involuntary cancellation through the system, leaving a group of 11 international tourists completely stranded without accommodation in Wasilla. This is a shameful, greedy, and deeply incompetent way to run a hospitality business. If you are a tour organizer, a corporate group, or an international traveler—DO NOT BOOK HERE. They will drop your guaranteed reservation without a second thought just to squeeze more money out of late peak-season bookings. Absolute disgrace.
