Green tree flagstaff
This was a nicely set out and modern two storey set of chalet type rooms
We had a two queen on a ground floor which was generally modern and relatively spacious with two
Beds, fridge and micro, and a few drawers for storage
We did not have a sofa or little chair just a big space one end of the room
Somewhere to sit other than the bed would have been nice and the room pictures for several rooms suggested there may be
The shower was a walk in which was nice and easy to get in and out
Parking was free and went around in a u shape, with lots of cameras making it feel secure, as well the general area just felt clean tidy and secure
The beds were comfy and we slept well all nights
On the face of it this could be a little gem of a green tree, especially with 2/3 of the staff we saw or dealt with being quite engaging / upbeat and the rest being on the right side of alright
Personally I love someone engaging at breakfast as it sets the day off right, the breakfast staff did not shine so, later day team members much more upbeat and engaging
Things that stopped this being a little gem for us, and could do with a little attention;’
Breakfast was sparse, made worse than the already not so good breakfast in Phoenix Greentree we’d left just prior by the broken waffle maker, complete absence of a coffee machine (drip or drip) an even smaller selection of bagels and breads and yoghurt, and then a couple of days not even normal milk for your cereal - almond milk or almond milk (makes vomit sound)
Our particular room had a list of issues I left with the front desk so as to hopefully alleviate things for the next person (eg dripping shower for hours until we worked out knob wasn’t correctly adjusted to stop in right place etc), though the big one for me was the lack of privacy from the Venetian blind which didn’t fully remove the ability to look in… especially as all the other rooms had voiles and black out blinds running in a rail. To be a gem of a place someone should spot these things before the guests do when they are pretty key things (eg housekeeping reporting the shower and whoever does a walk out from management on things like the blind acting as the eyes of the customer)
Cleanliness, there seemed to me (I am sure I don’t have all the story to be fair) to be plenty of time to clean the rooms as the carts were there ages and all the doors left open to air as the floors were well cleaned. The layout and furniture choices/ material is highly effective for these areas to also be cleaned quickly and efficiently - but with some simple antibac wipes the levels of dirty coming off the bedside table sides, the headboard, the area directly in-front of the micro, the fridge and the micro itself … well they went from white to black with little to no effort. I’d really expect these areas to be prioritised between each and every stay for a quick wipe down with some hot soapy water. Time wasn’t the issue as it took me under 5 mins to get so much black and assorted food/ body stains off, the point being I’m pretty sure I’m meant to check into a room without needing to conduct basic cleaning myself
The linens: beds were ok but the bathroom stuff had been through the wars. I really like white linen that isn’t all stained, and I saw several times the carts left overflowing on the car park floor and on the muddy borders outside , it’s no wonder they were looking less than pristine white. But all the same - stained doesn’t make things feel clean or sanitary to customers, example pic of washcloth included
So for the price overall;
Loved the modern feel and choices,
The parking was good and it all felt secure
Mattress etc good for a decent sleep
Maintenance and cleaning could be improved to achieve a big impact for little/ simple efforts
Chair other than desk chair would have been nice to sit relax on
Team in the main really good
Breakfast was woeful and I’d advise recognising that it’s super basic and either preparing to fuel up elsewhere, and or playing that into a price / value determination
Id definitely say consider this place to stop at this price point… even if you might want to dine out of a morning, or use it as an excuse to brunch, after your coffee and toast/ yoghurt. Definitely give it a wipe down before you settle in… ultimately overall it was a nice place to stop as base to explore areas around Flagstaff (it just could have been a notch up )
