Yavapai Lodge West

Overall, it was a nice room with decent space and very clean. There was a large window that looked out on the woods, and the best part of the room was an elk walked right by my window. Apparently this is quite common. The staff at the main reception building were friendly and moderately helpful. The dining area was decent but could use some updating. My biggest complaint was after I went to sleep an alarm in an adjacent room went off. I turned the TV on and tried to tune it out, but it was a pervasive noise. I called main reception and they said they would have security look into it when they were able. They never did - I still heard the alarm the next morning. Fortunately, I brought earplugs, or I may not have gotten much sleep. You may not have this particular experience, but if you need something from main reception, do not count on a quick response.

The convenience of the lodge being within the park was great…but the lodge is so old and aging especially for the price you pay per night. I would definitely not stay there again if I ever went back and I don’t think there are any others in the park (besides like El Tovar) that are much better within the park at a decent price point. I did serious research on this place and thought it was a great option but definitely super disappointed when we walked in the room for the first time. The rooms need serious actual renovations throughout, not just adding a shampoo/conditioner/body wash dispenser in the shower thinking that improves anything. It needs to be gutted. And small things like the shower curtain liner was filthy. If you cannot renovate at least do the things well that can be done easily. The staff was very friendly and check-in and checkout was easy.

So because of the extreme force winds, they have decided that they’re gonna cut off the power tomorrow at 9 AM for possibly 24 hours gave us no notice ahead of time and refused to give us a refund. I highly suggest that you do not stay in Arizona during wind season
