Quality Inn & Suites, Santa Cruz Mountains

I was considering staying here due to it's great location, but was apprehensive after reading the recent reviews, so I did not reserve a room. Instead, when I arrived, I asked to see the room first. The room had a strong smell of bleach and I started to feel a bit of a headache from it. The carpet was dirty and, aside from the bed which looked fresh and nicely made, the room looked dreary. The man at the desk was very nice and the pool area looked lovely, but the but the strong bleach smell alone made it a no go. Instead we went down the road just a bit to the Brookdale Lodge. The room was cheaper and far superior. We very much enjoyed our stay there.

If you don't have unlimited data, look elsewhere. The Wi-Fi is useless. The appliances and lights are in poor condition, and the service (singular) was not performed adequately. The rooms are at least relatively clean, but that is the ONLY upside. If you stay here, be prepared to step out of the room for network signal or to need your data, and forget about free breakfast.

Check in was pleasant and the two gentleman we talked with were very nice. Upon entering our room #211 we were taken back by the musty smell first thing. Opened the windows to air it out. It was late and dark outside when we checked in and had 5 minutes to get ready for the event we were traveling for. We didn’t take time to look at the condition of the room. The next morning we were able to see where the musty moldy smell came from. My guess is the mini fridge had a condensation leak for quite some time. The particleboard that housed the fridge was falling apart and moldy as well as the carpet. I would say Quality is a stretch when describing this hotel. It needs some work to bring it up to a basic standard.
