Rodeway Inn

Seadrift Inn aka Sea Drift Inn in Eureka, California needs real help. The outside looks acceptable. The rug needed cleaning 12 years ago. The lamp on the desk had a 2 watt bulb. The shade on the lamp was so gungy I believe it must have been purchased in 1956. The check in clerk was friendly. He did his job well. I believe the owners must run the motel with the thought not to spend a cent on anything. For example, the room keys were generic with nothing written on them. Just a pure white credit card. The envelope for the room key cards were reused from the last guests. He searched through a pile of envelopes to find one with the number of our room so he didn't have to get a new envelope. Parking is scarce. Not enough parking for all the rooms. The couch in the room should have been dumped in 1950. I didn't want to even sit in it. Surely they could get a better one from Salvation Army for $10. The refrigerator needed some longer legs. You had to really pull against the door as it pulled on the dirty carpet to open the refrigerator. I'm all for blind people but surely someone needs to give the rooms a good cleaning, shampooing the carpet and couch or better yet replace them both. Lest I forget the smoke alarm is just hanging down a foot from the ceiling. I'll try to include the picture but their internet is slow slow slow.

Noise level very high from traffic. Shower is the size of a phone booth. Manager was less than charming. Every chrome surface was covered in rust spots. Wall next to the sink had what appeared to be a bloody spot that once was in a nostril. Gross. Ironing board had a torn cover.

I booked this room for 9/04 on a dog friendly website. When I arrived the man in the booth said they did not allow dogs and would not honor my reservations. It was last minute on labor day weekend and I had to find another place to stay. The man said I would not be charged since they were the ones to cancel my reservation. However, he lied, and they did charge me for 9/05.
