Motel Garberville

We stayed at this motel. We were very disturbed when one of us found a large brown spider on the bathroom floor during the night. It appeared to be a brown recluse, but we can’t say that for sure. We reported this to the motel manager in the morning and he said he would look into it. Early in the morning, we gathered our things and got out of there in case we were in danger of running into the spider on the brown carpet or crawling into a different location. These are dangerous and venomous spiders. The motel owner did not seem concerned about this nor offered a refund. This is an old motel that has been refurbished.

Old building was clean and well maintained. Decent dinner place next door, and hippie dippy breakfast cafe a half block away. Room had a microwave and fridge, but neither were plugged in because there was just one accessible electric outlet, half of which was taken by a light fixture. Guess I need to pack a power strip.

Quaint old-fashioned motel - has a lot of original fittings and a real 1960's feel, but it was clean and comfortable. The rooms had character with wood panelling on the walls. Garberville is a charming little American town. Perfect for a stop off on our travels. Friendly staff.
