Art Hotel Laguna Beach

Absolutely the most disgusting place I have ever stayed. I booked it for 2 nights with my daughter and grandchildren because of the lovely pictures showing a clean property, a darling heated pool, and a patio that looked perfect. Instead we got a green pool, broken and moldy Lou ge chairs, filthy,filthy room. My white socks were black on the bottom after 10 mins. The shower was dirty and full of sand from a previous guest I guess and the water faucets smelled like raw sewage. Add in the cockroaches the size of small rodents and a completely rude front desk person and we have a perfect trip. I could not stay and subject my family to such disgust so we left and found a lovely CLEAN hotel. I’m still waiting for my refund.

Main complaint was no hot water for 24 hours. Their remedy was 25% off bill for one night and free posicles by the pool. You had to call every few hours to front desk for updates. Water pressure was so low it didn't cover the poop to flush it. Told housekeeping and front desk I was going out so they could take care of this. Came back 4 hours with no service and front desk told me told me to call Housekeeping. No answer. Front desk told me where I might find them. I walk with a cane. No disabled rooms were available upon checkin but I got a room furthest from the elevator and managed DO NOT RECOMMEND FOR DISABLED. Steep hill to beach requires driving to it.

Breakfast was relatively ok, location is very good, free car parking, complementary water in the room and chocolates we liked. Our room was not ready (double queen) on time (3.30 pm) so we waited patiently but when we finally went to leave our stuff there we were shocked - the condition of the room 112 is very far from the photos on Booking. It is very old, there were scratches on the furniture, the bedsheets were so old that we could not believe they had been washed after the previous guests. The shower did not work as it should, there was mold in the corners but the worst thing was the odor, the cleaning staff used so strong chemicals to obviously mask the smell from the pipes that we could not breath there normally. The guy from the reception even chased us with questions about the room and if we liked it, then started apologizing, explaining the they had real issues with their cleaning stuff and saying there were no any other double queen rooms ready (cleaned) for guests...Well, we thought that was ok for just 1 night and did not insist on changing the room immediately. So we left our luggage and went for a walk hoping that when we return the situation would be better....Nope! My eyes got irritated after 30 min. After 3 hours of constant coughing (we opened the door and the window to let the chemicals out) I simply got intoxicated and had difficulties breathing in the room or in front of the room with its door open. At this point my husband went to the reception to ask for another double queen room. What we heard from the reciptionist was an absolute mockery - he started shouting at me and asking why hadn't we told him earlier about the disgusting odor in the room and waited for hours to the extent that I was literally fainting...hello!....he definitely knew what room he gave us just decided to check what was going to happen and see if we were patient enough to spend the night there...never never never stay at this hotel! Believe me, its overall condition has nothing in common with the word "hotel", it is a motel, a very cheap and totally worn-out...though we paid 200+ usd/night.
