Jamaica Bay Inn

We flew out to spend an extended birthday weekend in LA, staying in Marina Del Rey. The Jamaica Bay Inn has long been our go-to, but this was our first visit since before COVID, and a lot has changed. Hilton now owns the property, and it shows. The warmth and character we remembered are gone, replaced by a colder, more corporate feel. We booked the King Bedroom Executive Suite, which looks nice at first glance but has some real drawbacks. There is no balcony, and the room sits directly above the hotel restaurant and bar, making rest nearly impossible because of crowd noise and music in the late morning and evening. The HVAC system is right next to the bed, making it difficult to rest or watch TV because it constantly cycles on and off. The property is positioned along the inland ocean tributary, but it is no longer aesthetically pleasing or well maintained. We dined at the restaurant once, which was fine, and the bartender was pleasant and efficient. However, room service breakfast was a mistake. Our food arrived in cardboard boxes with plastic utensils, items mixed together, and missing both a drink and condiments. Not what you expect at this price point. The staff were polite but not particularly warm. On our first night, the valet attendant pointed us to a parking spot rather than parking our vehicle, so we self-parked for the rest of our stay. All in, our room ran about $550 a night after taxes and fees, which is hard to justify given the experience. This will be our last stay at the Jamaica Bay Inn, though we will absolutely continue visiting the Marina Del Rey and Santa Monica area. Unfortunately, not recommended.

Jamaica Bay Inn Can’t say enough about Brandon Hernandez! He made our stay so welcoming and went out of his way to accommodate my friends and I. It’s not often an experience is so positive as this was! Brandon, I give you 5 stars +

My stay at Jamica Bay in was very enjoyable, everyone was very helpful, especially Brandon Hernandez, he went above and beyond to help us take a Waymo ride since we do not have any back home! Thank you Brandon!
