Hotel Avante, a Joie de Vivre Boutique Hotel

I remember the Hotel Avante from its days of fun geek chic Joie d’Vivre days - those days are gone. It is a solid if somewhat tired hotel. Clean room, comfortable beds, nice staff. Not particularly well sound proofed. No breakfast but coffee, tea, and fruit until it runs out. No bottles of water in the room but you can buy a small bottle, the kind that costs 25 cents at Costco, for $3 plus tax. Starting on October 1, they will charge $15 per night - it has been free since the 1980’s.

This place is a little hidden gem! The pool chairs are the most comfortable! The beds were amazing! The decor rocks! Water and coffee station great. Breakfast items and snacks were great. Definitely a great boutique hotel! The Manager RJ spectacular! He is the best in customer service I met on a 2 week west coast trip! Super clean! Free parking was a plus!

I had a very positive experience, staff were the highlight. Everyone was incredibly helpful and nice. After a small hotel equipment snafu RJ went above and beyond to make it right. Ive seen lots of mixed reviews, which seemed to be based on expectations particularly when referencing other Hyatt properties. This is not a Grand Hyatt, but it doesnt advertise as such nor is it priced that way, but those who say its a "cheap motel with a coat of new paint" are way off and probably have never actually even stayed at a cheap motel! Hotel Avante is clean, quite, comfortable and has attentive staff. I would gladly stay there again next time I go to Mountain View. Lastly, grab and go breakfast was conveient and small menu but sneakily very good.
