Cedar Gables Inn

If you’re looking for a great location and want all the charm and comfort then Cedar Gables is a must! The room we stayed in was larger than expected and so nice! I really couldn’t believe what we got for the value- it was refreshing! You’re close enough to walk downtown but far enough that’s it’s super quiet! The staff was so nice, you can tell they take pride in their establishment- it was so clean and perfect!

I rarely leave negative reviews, and in fact, I contacted the hotel privately before posting this because I wanted to give them an opportunity to address our concerns directly. My family stayed at Cedar Gables for our anniversary. Around 2:30–3:00 a.m., an alarm started going off and woke our young daughter. She became very upset and cried for quite a while afterward. We spent much of the night trying to comfort her while also trying not to disturb other guests nearby. Needless to say, none of us got much sleep. There was someone available when we checked us in, but after that the property felt largely unattended. We didn’t see staff when coming and going, there was no one available when we checked out, and the only employee we interacted with after check-in was the breakfast server. At 2:30 in the morning, while trying to calm a distressed child, our focus was on our daughter—not on finding a phone number to call. After the stay, I reached out directly to explain what happened and hoped they would consider some type of goodwill gesture. Instead, I was told that because the issue wasn’t reported at the time, they could not verify what happened and therefore would not offer any accommodation. What disappointed me most wasn’t even the alarm itself. Unexpected things happen. It was the feeling that our experience was dismissed simply because we didn’t report it in the middle of the night while dealing with an upset child. We paid additional fees for our daughter and breakfast, chose this property for a special anniversary trip, and left feeling unheard. I wanted to share our experience so future guests can make an informed decision, especially if having readily available staff and personal service is important to them.

This is a truly charming place, in a wonderful neighborhood, just south of downtown Napa. Walking into town or to the river it's quick and easy, past rows of magnificent old mansions. The inn itself is charming and well kept. It's quiet and very comfortable. The new bathroom in our suite was well done, and thoughtful. The main rooms' bed was very comfortable and it had a good selection of pillows to choose from. Each room in the suite had air conditioning, which was a blessing on the very warm weekend. Unfortunately, one of the air conditioners was not functioning as well as it should have but that was minor. Tim, the manager, is delightful, and very helpful, and made us feel right at home. Breakfast of muesli and avocado toast was perfect for our day. Highly recommended. We will stay there again.
