Napa Inn

If you don't want a generic concrete chain hotel this is the place for you! Beautiful and charming! Perfect location to drive to dinner or walk to First street outdoor mall! Breakfast was made to order and on fancy plates, not to mention delicious! The rooms were lovely and the bed was so comfortable. They had and a fireplace and AC, perfect for any weather condition. A definitely don't miss opportunity.

Location was excellent - central to downtown Napa. Room was clean, beds were very comfortable and housekeeping staff were very friendly and helpful. However our room left much to be desired. There were no comfortable chairs to sit in, so it was impossible to relax in our room. The bathroom door was incredibly and narrow (we are 5ft1in and 5ft5in - see photos below). It was up three flights of stairs and was listed as ADA compliant (removed when we informed the inn keeper). Listed as a two story building on Hotels.com. The breakfast was underwhelming. We do not eat meat and were not offered any substitutions - the meat was just left off our plates. The food was delicious but portions were minimal - no seconds or extras were offered. This was a very expensive stay and we were not offered compensation of any kind despite repeat attempts to discuss our issues with the inkeeper. The assistant inkeeper did try to help but was not authorised to offer us any compensation. We were very disappointed in our stay and did not feel comfortable in our room. The premises failed totally in making our space comfortable - despite it's size the room felt cramped and univiting.

I had stayed at Napa Inn a few times in the past and even brought my in-laws to stay there once. I thought it would be nice to stay there again for an October business trip I had planned. I noticed they didn’t have availability on their website, so I called to make the reservation over the phone a couple months ago. The woman I spoke to was very thankful that I let them know about the website issue and offered me a discount in return, and said I would be charged for the first nights stay to hold the room. Which was fine, as my trip was in 7 months. This morning, I noticed I had a charge from Napa Inn for the cost of the entire stay and an email titled “Updated cancellation policy”. The email says the entire stay has to be paid in advance, there is no cancellation allowed if you use a third party site, and there is an increased per-day cancellation fee. The fact that they went ahead and charged my card a few thousand dollars without notifying me first of this policy change or upcoming charge, 2 months after my initial reservation call and 5 months before my actual stay, felt VERY sleazy - I called to cancel my reservation completely. I dealt with a very off-putting person on the phone who told me “this is business” and who said she was positive I was told the cancellation policy when I made the reservation over the phone several months ago. The original email with my reservation confirmation stipulates a lower cancellation fee and nothing about paying for the total stay, so I’m not sure if this is even legal. Either way, I will never stay at this Inn again.
