Hilton should be ashamed of themselves for allowing guestreservations.com to rip customers off. We are loyal Hilton properties customers and have been fleeced by an unethical, non-transparent organization that didn’t reveal it was a second-party. Long story short: Best price was advertised as $119. By the time “recovery fees” were factored in our rate went up 75% to $193.11. We will be disputing the charge.

We stayed here because they had a shuttle to and from the Oakland Airport and we frequently use Choice Hotels. We didn't have to wait very long after contacting the hotel for shuttle service. The shuttle driver told us what we'd need to do to use the shuttle the next morning and the desk clerk told us something totally different. We ask about the hotel restaurant and there is no hotel restaurant, just a breakfast area. But their website plainly says “our restaurant - enjoy the convenience of sitting down for a good meal at our hotel restaurant”. One of the reasons we chose this hotel was because it claimed there was a restaurant. We knew our flight would be sorta late and we weren’t getting a rental car so we needed somewhere to have dinner. The desk clerk told us the restaurant was in the Raddison next door. So we walked. After dinner, we ask the desk clerk about a store. He said it was right around the corner. While it wasn’t extremely far, it wasn’t right around the corner either. But we did get a good night’s rest and ate breakfast, which was okay. It kept us from buying it at the airport.

We stayed here for several nights over Thanksgiving to visit family. The hotel was not very busy, so we enjoyed the quietness and extra attention from the staff. The building is relatively modern, located amidst a cluster of hotels just south of the Coliseum, and has a nice lobby, private office/computer/printer area, small workout room with interior saunas and jacuzzi, plus plenty of parking. Although this area of Oakland is not known for being too upscale, we felt completely safe during our entire stay. The staff didn't have much to do, it seemed, as the hotel was relatively empty during our stay. Nonetheless, they were pleasant and helpful whenever we needed advice or help with minor problems. Our room was located on the first floor, right next to the laundry, but was large and quiet. Everything was clean, maid-service was great, and the morning breakfast was served in a large room with plenty of seating and a good food selection. The door locks and other hardware seemed well-maintained. A few quibbles which reduced my rating by a star. The hotel seems to be big on going green, presumably to keep their utility bills in check. For us, unfortunately, this meant our bathroom had a very weak-flowing sink, shower, and even toilet. (The shower temperature seemed OK, but you still felt cold because you were hardly getting wet! The toilet didn't plug, but it's flush did not inspire confidence.) Also, the automatic light switches in the bathroom and entry way took some getting used to, i.e. going off at inopportune times or taking an extra swipe to turn on/off. Lastly, the hotel needs to be more upfront about taxes and fees. Upon checkout, I found my bill had an extra $10/night tacked-on for "Hotel Measure Z" which they explained was a local tax (in addition to a 14% occupancy tax and $1.50/night tourism levy). I didn't like that this extra tax/fee was not included in my original rate quote and that room taxes and fees add about 25% to the base room rate. Maybe this extra fee is intended to make up for the Raiders moving to Vegas at the end of the year and subsequent loss of revenue from the Coliseum? I don't know, but it won't be a pleasant surprise to most travelers.
