This is a matter of getting what you pay for. The elevator is only available for one of the three buildings. Perhaps that was the issue as it may be the oldest. We booked a 3-night stay and the only room available for night #1 was the third floor, street side. Street side was I-80. Sleeping was a challenge. When we returned day two the key card didn't work. We'd already made the decision to request a move to the other side of the hall; what was available was on floor 2. So we packed up and moved to floor 2. That room had a sink and tub barely draining. No kleenex, 1/2 rolll of toilet paper and no backup. One of the lights by the bed didn't work and it was not the light bulb but the entire fixture pulled away from the wall. There were no blankets or bedspreads on the beds, just a sheet. This room had an odor of cat pee. There were two people at the front desk, and to their credit were as helpful as they could be given the challenges of the property, one working days and the other nights. House keeping was a challenge for them as well.

Do.not.stay.here. Listen, I can handle some pretty less than stellar hotels. I’m not opposed to a quirky mom and pop hotel/motel experience. This was not that. We booked the Auburn House Hotel as we were in town for a wedding. Front desk was pleasant, but from first glance I could tell this place doesn’t get much love or updating, but figured eh, this place is affordable and a good location for what we needed. We walked into the room and immediately noticed it wasn’t as clean as I’d expect, had an odd smell and mysterious stains on carpet. BUT then we inspected a bit further. Hair all over the bathroom, built up dust all over and trash left in the room. Then, lift up the comforter and a left over smoked blunt was IN THE BED, seriously. In the bed. Immediately went to the front desk and told them we were checking out and needed a refund, which they had zero objection to, so assuming that happens often. Don’t book a place here until they do some serious renovating and cleaning. I’d rather sleep in the car.

Room was full of roaches, tubs were full of pubic hair. Outdated furniture and TV had a late 1980s vibe. When I complained they moved me into a room with a smaller bed, no toilet paper or shampoo, broken lock on the front door, and black spots on the comforters. Staff was rude Dee, Betty and Bonnie all rude. Manager who was there in the morning was rude and uncaring too. Punished me and threatened me with no refund because I reported them to Choice. I will be reporting to the BBB and state attorney general.
