I'm a homeless person that stays in many hotels. I've actually stayed in this one plenty of times just because the price was suitable. Every room I've been in was smelly whether cigarettes were smoked or pot it smelled disgusting.
The first few times I've stayed were fine to a point. First I was in rm #124 while the bathroom was unusually hot the floor had bubbles and slits that made it hard to walk on, there were no towels except the one to dry your hands on and one somewhat bigger towel. The rest of the room was fine besides the smell.
Rm #125 Again the room smelled of cigarettes and pot... The floors were dirty and had the same problem slits in the floor that made it hard to walk on. A few more towels this time.
Rm #145 The room must've just been sprayed with something cause it smelled better but the next day returned to the cigarette and pot smell. I actually got a wash cloth on this stay. However, one morning I went to go get breakfast, without telling me at the time of check in or a call in the morning. When I came back the locks were changed and I had to go to the front to get a new key card.
Last time staying there was back in Rm #124, this time it was not good. Killed about 3 roaches (not baby roaches) adult German roaches. The same with the bathroom being hot and the rest of the room being cold. And that funny smell that lingers in every single one of the rooms I've been in. During checkout I let the front desk guy know. I told him I'm not hindered from coming back because although it's not a great motel, a homeless person can't complain when all they're mostly looking for is a bed and a shower.
Each room has something wrong with it but the next time I came back with a reservation they said they can no longer rent to me because there was an odd smell in the room when I left.
There was a huge fight between the third party I booked through, motel 6 Chula Vista, and I to get refunded. I didn't understand why I was now put on a dnr when like I said each room has a weird smell. I didn't care, all I needed was a shower and I was denied and my reservation had been cancelled by motel 6 Chula Vista.
No call informing me of cancellation, they waited till I was there and embarrassed me in front of other people in the office. The fight for a refund got ugly to the point that I had to threaten both with calling a lawyer and getting my money back. The guy at front desk of motel 6 Chula Vista yelled at me and hung up. I eventually got word that I was finally being refunded.
I believe it's because I told them about the roaches and that I was homeless and they tried to find a reason not to rent to me anymore. To each their own, I don't know what smell they were referring to. Maybe my shoes gave off a stinky feet smell since I'm in them 24/7 and do have sweaty feet. But either way, with the way they handled the phone calls and the manager never being there, and how they embarrassed me in front of other people. I don't want to stay there anymore. Just be careful staying there and what you say. It might put you on a DNR.

Don't trust your reservations with Motel 6. I made a reservation for one of my employees, they sent over confirmation for 6 nights. When our employee arrived they had cancelled the reservation. We received no cancellation notice, Nothing!!
The hotel was fully booked, I called their main reservation number and they offered us another location for $400.00 more. Needless to say, we declined and took our business elsewhere. I will never book with Motel 6 again. As I stated before, don't count that your room will be available to you even with a confirmation number.
My employee had to wait for a couple of hours so I could find him other accommodations. It was hard to find since special events are happening in SD and
the majority of accommodations were booked.
