Nice property with good service. The room was put together well. It had everything we needed. Convenient location. Shake restaurant served a quick tasty breakfast. Parking was easy.

Give serious consideration to the less than satisfactory reviews before booking. I just completed a two-night weekend getaway. While the staff was indeed pleasant and helpful, the downtown location of the building, the exterior appearance and smell, and the criminal element on the surrounding sidewalks and vicinity should give you pause, especially if you are traveling with family/small children. Most notably: 1) the entrance to the self-parking area was not signed well and difficult to locate. The spiral entrance ramp was treacherous for a larger vehicle. The non-reserved parking spots were narrow and difficult to access. 2) The soundproofing of the room was unsatisfactory. Despite being on the 23rd floor, we heard emergency vehicle sirens on the streets below all day and night. At night, we heard homeless people screaming at each other. 3) We did not feel safe walking outside of the property, especially at night. This is evidently a known issue to MVC as there is signage near the elevators recommending guests, for their personal safety, use a certain route when going outside to avoid danger. 4) The sidewalks and streets that surround the property were dirty, littered with trash and have not been washed down in some time. The smell and sights of human urine and excrement surrounded the property. Homeless were everywhere. We were shocked to see the illegal activities taking place on the immediate exterior of the property. Frankly, I was disgusted to see a Marriott property in such a condition and location. I am a longstanding and loyal Marriott owner but I cannot recommend and will not return to MVC San Diego.

Location is city based, customer service was great and the staff was amazing all round. Enjoyed the stay and was well worth going. Close to a couple beaches when traveling with a car but not walking. Near the museums and restaurants all around the area.
