The Cable Car Court Hotel

If you are staying in San Francisco and on a budget, I would be looking elsewhere for accomodation. I was initially drawn to this hotel as I thought the "Cable" car which runs at the front would go to the main vibrant part of the city but unfortunately it is not the case. Apart from the fact that there is a nightclub that plays loud music until late hours of the morning, you will be sharing a toilet/bathroom with the entire floor of other guests. The ratio of guests to bathroom facilities is grossly inadequate. My first night additionally resulted in all guests being evacuated at 3am to the street due to a fire alarm and consequent entry by firemen, only to find out a guest had set a waist bin alight by smothering his cigarette. I had to wake the night manager/ porter to get some information on the second night in his office. The Cable Car Hotel is cheap and you will get what you pay for, but it is also nasty.

Once read the reviews I thought it might have been a disaster but fortunately we had a pleasant surprise. Of course is not a 5 stars but is a pretty good deal for the crazy prices of SF. Room is really small so I'd recommend you to book the 2 beds room (for 60-80$ more) for long stay, if is just for 3-4 days normal room is ok. Service is good, never felt unsafe, didn't happen anything strange, no weird situations. Strongly recommend it if you are on a budget

After reading good and bad reviews didn't know what to expect but not a great experience! Helpful and friendly staff though. Didn't like the carpeted room which didn't feel clean, never does in cheap rooms. The bed sloped down towards the door and my mum fell out of the bed in the night. The bathroom needs a revamp. No bed bugs so that was a bonus! I wouldn't stay here again but was after a really cheap place to stay and this fit the bill at the time. Good location though.
