The Kimpton Buchanan

We absolutely loved our stay at this hotel! The location was great, and the service was exceptional from the moment we arrived. The front desk gave us such a warm and professional welcome, especially the Indonesian lady who was incredibly helpful and did a wonderful job making us feel welcome. We traveled from Napa Valley and arrived a little earlier than expected. We were planning to simply leave our luggage and walk around until check-in, but they were kind enough to check us in early, which was so convenient. When we got to our room, we found a lovely congratulations note and some treats waiting for us. Since we had mentioned that we were celebrating our honeymoon, they also upgraded our room, which was such a thoughtful touch and made our stay even more special. They have a coffees, teas down by the front desk every morning so you can enjoy it with the chilly weather in the morning. The room was clean and comfortable, and we really enjoyed the Social Hour, which is always a must when staying at Kimpton hotels. We had a wonderful time chatting with the Engineering and Housekeeping Directors, they were very welcoming, professional and helpful with recommendations , it was such a lovely and memorable experience. Every small touches made a big differences. The location near Japantown was another big plus—we loved being able to explore the area and enjoy the amazing Japanese cuisine nearby. We would absolutely love to come back and highly recommend this hotel. Thank you to the entire team for making our honeymoon stay so special!

This is a great neighborhood location with easy access to dining options in Japantown plus the variety located on nearby Fillmore Street. I chose the parking package which I was pleasantly surprised to find out was self-parking and located in a small garage right off the lobby with in/out privileges. Two issues to be aware of: 1) Avoid first floor rooms 101-105 as these are located in the same corridor as the staff break room which gets lots of activity ... you know when someone goes in/out as the heavy door bangs shut and you can hear conversations through the closed door. 2) The orientation of the bathroom door is problematic. The door opens out into the very narrow hall as you enter the room. To enter the bathroom you need to basically stand against the room entry door to open the bathroom door. When leaving the bathroom, you need to walk into the hall, and shut the door before you can go back to the bed area. Might not sound like a big deal but it's annoying ... a sliding barn door or door opening into the bathroom would solve the problem.

We stayed at TWO different hotels during out visit an this one was the BEST one! Fist time staying at a VOCO hotel and we will be back. My check- in experience was great, the lobby was clean and the room set up was AMAZING! Our guest room was clean and the amenities were great. Keep up the good work!
