Best Western El Rancho

I had a booking for this hotel for September 2023. On planning my journey, something didn't seem right, it wasn't coming up on Google maps, and on further investigation something seemed wrong. Google street view updated in June 2023, and the hotel had different signage. It seems the hotel is now a recovery centre for people with addictions. They had not however cancelled my booking!! I cancelled it myself, but wished to write this for anyone else who is booked in and have not been alerted.

Please don’t stay here for the following reasons: Over priced facilities that are completely unavailable ‘closed for maintenance’ A white board full of rules at check in (like being a school!) Rooms are zero thrills - dated furniture and low pressure showers Breakfast - awful selection, not even a toaster Please read the responses from the motel to some of the reviews below. That alone should make you know you should go and put your money somewhere else. Try somewhere in Morro Bay not on Highway 1

I cannot recommend this hotel/motel. The grounds are filthy, the room not much better, there is a $60 fee for a pet, even though when I booked it said $30 pet fee. Turns out ONE room is designated for the $30 pet fee and of course, that room was not available. The pet area is a strip of weeds about two feet by ten feet. Breakfast was insufficient. I have nothing good to say about this place.
