Rodeway Inn

Arrived 1930 13 May 2026 to find the front office locked. Another guests says no one has been there for 20 mins. The receptionist was off property on her break. I was left in the cold until she returned. Eventually got 302. Room is fine , though curtains are dirty , and wofi didn’t work. Went back down to ask about local amenities. Again door was locked Why not post a sign saying back in 30 mins ???? Other better places available locally

Ok. To start with, for some reason the hotel is listed as permanently closed on Google. I can assure you as of 12/31/25, this place is not closed. I'm going to list the room I booked because I would like to see these issues fixed for the next guest. In room 218 the tv remote control in the room was missing the batteries, so I had to go get new ones from the office. The bedside lamps did t work either, whether the bulbs were blown or lamps broken I'm not sure, but both lamps weren't working. The water is slow in heating up so you have to turn on and give it about 5 mins before you get hot water, and even then it isn't really hot hot. Not good for hot showers. The front door latch is poorly repaired and actually inadequate for security. Looking at the jamb it appears to have been kicked in or pryed open some kinda way. But the feeble attempted repair is absolutely a joke, you can't even call it a repair. Also, the hotel is adjacent to train tracks, so every hour on the hour, you'll hear the dinging of the approaching train warning AND the train blowing it's horn. Luckily I'm a sound sleeper and wasn't bothered by it till about 5:30 am when I was awoken. If I had to rate the hotel out of a score of 100 being the best, I'd have to give it a 71. The room was comfortable, clean, quiet, and the decor was nice. But that's about it.

First off, I picked this place because it is a 5 minute walk to the border crossing. Location is great for that and all kinds of shopping. I had one bed, the room wasn’t huge but it was clean. Bathroom was good size. Microwave and fridge included. 711 across the street, and the money exchanges across the street were better rates than the ones closer to the border, or on the other side. The breakfast I wouldn’t call breakfast, corn flakes, fruit loops, apples and dried out muffins. AC worked well and wasn’t noisy. If you’re a light sleeper, definitely request a room in the front part. If you are on the back side, the train tracks are there, and it’s non stop whistling. No sleeping. If you’re like me, the only reason I went to san ysidro was to go to tiquana. The first day I heard lots of warnings from tourist and even from locals working in the business. Saw a ton of cops the everywhere and never had an issue. The second night, I headed for the border by 8:30 to avoid any problems. Mexican pigs (sorry only way I can describe these cops) actually backed up down the road to stop me as I crossed a crosswalk. Long story short, they rolled me for 4000 pesos. In conclusion, there is no reason to go to Tijuana. Anybody who goes there has a horror story.
