Coastview Inn Santa Cruz

An older hotel as are most in this area. Across from beach. Great location. Restaurants and amusements near by. Ocean views available! Coffee available in am. Ample parking. Convenient to most local venues.

The place is closing in 10 days for a 2 year refurb and rebuild so don't need to say too much. When it is rebuilt it looks modern and the location is excellent. I actually thought it was ok. Helpful staff, complimentary hot drinks and a breakfast. Yes it is old but they have clearly rode out the summer season to close.

Worst place I have ever stayed! The rooms are dirty, the curtains and bedspreads have holes in them, and the blanket had a dried substance on it, which was very questionable! There was a dumpster located right outside our door. There were shady looking people wandering around the parking lot. I refused to lay in the bed, so I sat in a chair, which was also stained, but I covered it with a towel. The carpets are filthy, so I kept my shoes on all night, and I felt so uncomfortable that I kept all the lights on all night long. We were on the ground level, and the floors above us creaked every time some walked on them, and we could hear water running all night long from the other guest rooms. We were traveling with friends, and their room was just as bad as ours. I was so embarrassed, because I am the one responsible for booking the rooms. I only give it one star, because I have to.
