Basecamp South Lake Tahoe

Stayed for 4 days to celebrate my husbands birthday, traveling woth our 9 month old. PROS: Go to Basecamp for the ambiance. It's like a fun hostel, and the vibes are great at the brewery on-site. Great setup in the common areas. Love all the balconys and the hot tubs! Front desk staff was very accommodating. We would not have survived if they hadn't upgraded or room from the standard king to the junior suite. Rooms are decorated in a cool campy theme. On-site coffee shop is convenient and tasty! Junior suite has great tub and counter space with extra sink which is nice. Beach discount was awesome! CONS: the standard king room is small. Would not fit a crib or a playpen area for our baby to crawl around. As a pumping mom having only a small metal chair to sit in as I pump throughout the day and night sucked - but fit with the theme. Rooms are no frills - NOT a 3 star hotel by any stretch of the imagination. Tiny fridge that doesn't keep very cold. Bed linens in our room were of the absolute cheapest quality (thin microfiber - like hospital sheets) - i remade the bed and found a used pimple patch stuck on the tag (ewww). White towels are stained/ bed linens are stained (I've never seen this at even the cheapest motel). The mattress was worn and extra firm, unlike the "soft" beds advertised on the website. I imagined after reading the room description I would get a quality sleep, but the bed was so firm my hips were aching and I had to keep flipping sides. I walked into the room next door when it was being cleaned and that mattress seemed to be great quality, so not sure why the junior suite would have an old crappy bed. Good sleep is the most important thing for me staying at a hotel, because you're literally there to sleep. I stay at best westerns regularly and that seems luxurious next to this hotel. Last but not least wet dog smell in the room and no housekeeping service - so we were emptying our own trash everyday and asking the front desk for tp, towels etc. I would not stay here again traveling as a family but would visit the brewery on-site and hang out. So, again, stay for the ambiance! Don't bring your baby! It's a lowkey hostel vibe with great decor!

Great location, easy walk to the casinos and no resort or parking fees. Friendly front desk staff, live music and clean rooms.

Wonderful place for families + dog! Staff gracious + helpful, especially front desk Cameron , who accommodated our different needs, & Flo the barista, who makes best coffee in town. Rooms were spacious, outdoor courtyard very nice with cornhole + ping pong + live music. Cafe & breakfast place has great food, with balconies in various places to enjoy outdoors, with big hot tub to relax in. We had a weekend summer stay, central to everything fun, highly recommend.
