Air Venice on the Beach

Walked in to walk to a wall of heat. No AC in the room. There was a fan that barely worked. It was 85-87 degrees in the room the whole time. Couldn’t even open the window as there is a bar/patio right beside blaring music. The room was old, furniture in bad shape. Hair all over the sink and toilet, very gross. My kid and I could barely sleep the first night. Prepaid and Booked for 5 nights but could not stay in that disgusting hot room. Checked out the next day and even told the front desk that I would pay for the second night to get reimbursed for the other 3. I was made to sign an early checkout sheet basically giving up my rights and they denied refunding me. Charged me the whole $1220 dollars. Absolute garbage hotel, do not stay.

I am not in the habit of leaving negative reviews, but I feel it is my duty to inform those who think they will find a hotel like the one shown in the photos, because the reality was quite different. I was assigned a room on the seventh floor. The only form of ventilation was the windows, which also had broken screens. I also found mold on the curtains and very dirty floors, and the presence of sand on the ground. There was only a small fan, completely insufficient both to ensure adequate air exchange and to cool the environment. The only lamp illuminating the room was crumpled and in disarray, as were the curtains (I am attaching photos). Being located on the seventh floor and exposed to the sun for most of the day, the room reached very high temperatures. I am a former cancer patient and I am following a therapy that makes me particularly sensitive to heat, therefore I was not in a condition to be able to stay in that room. For this reason, I asked to cancel the reservation, but I was still charged the full cost of the stay. I find it particularly unfair that my health situation and the fact that the accommodation assigned was not suitable for my needs were not taken into consideration. Furthermore, I did not feel comfortable because of the environment and the people who frequented the facility. Too bad, because I was hoping for a completely different experience; this mishap left me with a terrible memory.

This was our last night in LA and we wanted to be right on the beach. The Deluxe room was on the ground level meaning we had to keep blinds down as the whole living had windows. It was a bit noisy at night but manageable. The apartment was well equipped with a queen bed in the living room with a sofa, TV, dining table, kitchen with full fridge, microwave and two coffee makers. The bedroom had another queen bed, safe box and steamer iron. The bathroom had a small hair dryer. There was a wardrobe in the bedroom and hangers at the door. The building has its own laundry room. We got the entry code and room code from reception, no need for cards. Both the living room and bedroom had air con. It was all very clean and comfortable. For dinner cross the street to Venice Beach cafe open until 9:30pm, their honey pizza was amazing! For breakfast nearby Fig Tree opens 8am and is half price on breakfast plates until 9am. We tried the breakfast platter, burrito and French toast, with coffee and latte. Overlooking the beach! Burn the calories having a swim in the beach which is staffed with lifeguards from 9am. My only suggestion would be that two small shampoos, conditioner, lotion and soap bars are a little tight for a family of four. Refillable containers both at sink and shower are now standard and make life so much easier, eliminating plastic too!
