Best Western The Academy

We used to enjoy this place. But it seriously has gone down hill. I went to check in, room wasn't ready, lady at front desk said she would call me when it was ready, which she never did. I came back about an hour later and they still werent sure if our room was ready.The family suites are run down, doors barely closes, one little kick and it would be open. The "sleeper sofa" is a small very cheaply made couch that isn't even long enough for my 11year old to sleep on, which is also dirty as hell. The carpets in the room also have big red stains all over. The TV randomly turn on in the middle of the night. Also the parking lot is full of homeless living in their vehicles and the halls smell like weed and random bums under the stairs inside the building. The breakfast used to be good, but now you have to pay extra $7 for an omelet that used to be included, the rest of the breakfast is also pretty crappy. The people at the front desk would rather talk on their phones then help out guests. Very very disappointing

The hotel was booked for a family reunion. Upon entering, the hotel looked "okay." When walking to the elevator to my room, I noticed the lobby furniture was old--1980s if I had to guess--and didn't look like anything I'd want to sit on. My room was clean; the bed was comfortable. My biggest surprise came when, shortly after checking in, and partially disrobed in preparation for a shower, a woman entered my room with a key!!?? We were both surprised, and she asked me was I staying in that room. I replied, "Yes. This is the room that was given to me." I got dressed and went down to the front desk to inform them of my alarming and unsettling invasion of privacy experience. While desk staff apologized and offered some type of excuse, I was surprised and disappointed that Academy Hotel did not offer to comp me for any portion of my stay. Never again will I stay here.

A front desk that didn't pick up the phone. An alarm clock that went off at 6 am. A sink that drained slowly. A desk that squeaked when I typed. Unknown stains on the wall by the trash can. A bathroom in need of repainting. A squishy-ish bed. An old (read: loud) window air conditioning unit. A front desk clerk who, when told about the phone not being picked up, said, "Ah yes those were our two worst employees working last night." Perplexing architecture. But hey a good price.
