The location is wonderful… tucked in a canyon facing the side of Mt Rushmore. You can see the profile of George Washington from the hotel. It was clean. The food is not very good, so try to eat elsewhere.

A clean lodge experience nestled in the woods was a highlight of our trip. Several outdoor community outlooks, lots of windows and a very good breakfast with views made this our favorite hotel during our SD visit. The rooms were clean, the beds were very comfortable with quality linens and gracious staff. The bathrooms are very modern and comfortingly practical. We loved our decks and the views. In the evening we were treated to warm chocolate chip cookies alongside their 24 hour coffee and tea bar. The breakfast was a wonderful surprise of better than average options and staff. You will deal with bus loads of tours but that’s only because word is out and this is an awesome place to stay. Convenient location to major sites. (Photos are from our balcony )

K Bar S Lodge was a great stay and honestly even better than I expected based on some of the older photos I had seen online. The property and room were very clean and updated, and the setting was one of my favorite things about it. I loved being tucked back in the woods, away from the busy main strip in Keystone, while still being incredibly convenient to Mount Rushmore. The view of George Washington from the property was such a cool bonus and made the location feel even more special. The staff were polite and welcoming, breakfast was good, and the coffee was amazing — definitely better than I expected from a hotel breakfast! Overall, I really enjoyed K Bar S Lodge and would absolutely stay here again. The peaceful wooded location, cleanliness, updated accommodations, and Mount Rushmore view made it a great choice for visiting the Black Hills.
