Timber Run Condominiums

We booked this place for the location and the fact that there were 4 bedrooms, great for 10 people. 8/10 people were not able to sleep on the horrible beds that are in the place. The company needs to spend some serious money to update the beds as I have heard this is a common complaint in this building. When you're on a vacation to ski, quality beds is a must. Outside of that, the kitchen was well stocked, and there were good amenities in terms of towels, soaps, etc. The building hot tubs were great to have right in the area and the shuttle, while packed, was convenient to get to the mountain base. I would not stay here again, or with Retreatia, until they upgrade the beds. 

I have been to Steamboat at least once a year for the last 20 years and have stayed at Timber Run several times. We wanted to stay here for many reasons. We like the location, the shuttles were reliable, the service at the front desk was helpful, the units included all that we needed, the hot tubs were close and well maintained,, etc. Unfortunately, the association has chosen to cut corners and, aside from the hot tub, the reasons that we used to stay no longer exist. First i will talk about the management company, Retreatia. The shuttle was not reliable most of the time. We waited sometimes close to 30 minutes for the ski area shuttle that was supposed to be every 10 minutes. Calling Retreatia didn't work as they said they were doing the best they could. One night we decided to go downtown for dinner. When we were ready to head back, around 7:30 pm, we could not get a shuttle on the app they told us to use. We kept trying and finally, someone called my friend and told her that they would not have shuttle service for the rest of the night due to weather. Sure it had been snowing all day and was continuing, but this is a ski resort! We noticed that other shuttles, including the town bus were still operating and the roads did not appear to be that bad. Luckily we were able to get a bus to drop us off within 1/4 mile of the condo. We were told the next morning that one of the shuttles got stuck and that they only have 2 shuttles, to service 3-4 different areas. As for the condo unit, it was clean and had plenty of towels, which is good as they no longer have dedicated hot tub towels. The unit could have up to 6 people but we could not find extra blankets anywhere. Since there were only 3 of us we made it work. However, there was only one wine glass in the unit! Forget requesting anything as there was no one manning the front desk. If you wanted something you would have to call or go all the way into town to the Retreatia office. Needless to say we will think twice before staying here again, especially as the cost seems to be higher than some other condos on the mountain.

Really disappointed in this business run by CEO, Josh Marquis and his GM, Chris Balenske. We had reservations over the Christmas Holiday and what a nightmare. Started with SWA cancelling our flights and ended with Retreatia not calling us back to find alternative dates or a refund. We contemplated driving, extra legs of flights, alternative dates, and finally driving...then there were multiple government warnings about Avalanches and then Retreatia sent an email that there shuttle which is needed to get to the lift unless you want to drive everyday would be unavailable due to weather. We tried emailing, Airbnb, and even calling but to no avail...they hid behind their policies. If they would have called us back and discussed the situation we would have worked with them to find an alternative situation or other dates. However, Retreatia only wanted our money...they ruined our Christmas holiday as our children were extremely upset. How do you tell a child they aren't getting their gift because of a company's unwillingness to work with you. Things happen but a call would have been nice, shows the soul of a company, shows their lack of care, shows there are better places to entrust your precious time with family to. My advice read Retreatia's policies CLOSELY, know that if something goes wrong they will likely ignore you, keep your money, and you'll be left to fend for yourself. Regardless of the aesthetics, location, or price renter beware...there are better choices where they care about you and your family in Steamboat, find one.
