I stayed at the ESA in Long Beach CA. Not even a spoon in the "Fully equipped" kitchen. Nothing! No shampoo, or hair dryer in the bathroom. Checked out after 3 nights. They still owe me money for a refund of my deposit for the remaining 4 nights. I have a printout of what the refund should have been and they short paid me. Went back to complain and they said I should get the balance in 7 to 10 business days. It has been 2 1/2 months. I can't reach anyone who is willing to help me. They have lost me and a lot of fellow travelers as guests forever!

I wont say this is a bad place to stay, its just a little different from being a traditional hotel option is the best way to say it. This hotel is on a smaller scale, (as I suspect when it was built it was probably part of a larger hotel property that a good portion of it has been demolished over time. The pro's, they have several room size options. Including an option for a room with a small fridge, sink, and stovetop with an overhead microwave. Those items give an individual needing extended lodging an option to stay here. The rooms are a bit dated in the decor department but the room was clean. While this is not a five star hotel experience for the money it is a good option. I liked that there were restaurants nearby for grabbing a bite to eat without having to get in the car. I would stay here again on a future visit to the area.

While this isn't the Ritz, I was very impressed with this hotel. Mike checked us in and was very friendly and efficient. Made us feel very welcome. The next morning we met Justin, General Manager. He was also extremely friendly and helpful. He also made us feel very welcome The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. Basic breakfast is available. Very good value. I will stay there again when in the area. My room was away from the road so it was very quiet. I was very pleased with this property. Making the reservation was very easy but I called to make it. Don't quite trust the internet to get it right. A word of caution about using a booking agency. If you are going to book online, make sure you get the website of the actual hotel - not a booking agency. With an agency, If you have to make changes or need to cancel, it can take several phone calls to get a refund. Nothing like talking to a real person on site. This Super 8 is family owned and is much more personal.
