HILTON MYSTIC

Unfortunately, our stay at the Hilton in Mystic was an extremely disappointing experience. While we were in our room, a plumbing issue from the room above us caused water to leak through the ceiling into our bathroom. Instead of relocating the guests in the room where the plumbing problem originated and taking that room out of service, we were the ones required to move rooms. This meant I had to wake up my 6-year-old child in the middle of the night, pack up our things, and move to another room because of a maintenance issue that had absolutely nothing to do with us. The room we were moved into was supposedly a suite with a king bed, but the bedroom setup was terrible. The bed is essentially stuffed into a small alcove/closet area and can only be accessed from one side. If the person sleeping against the wall needs to use the bathroom during the night, they basically have to climb over the other person. To make matters worse, there were no usable electrical outlets near the bed. I use a CPAP machine and actually had to have maintenance come to the room just to figure out how I could plug it in and use it while sleeping. After the leaking bathroom, waking and relocating my 6-year-old, the poorly designed replacement room, and needing maintenance assistance just to use my CPAP, I asked the hotel for some type of discount or adjustment for the inconvenience. They offered nothing. Problems happen at hotels. Pipes break. What matters is how a hotel handles those problems and takes care of its guests afterward. In this case, I don’t feel that was handled appropriately at all. This was an incredibly frustrating and disappointing experience, especially for a Hilton property. We will not stay here again.

Our stay at the Hilton Mystic was okay, but the breakfast experience was extremely disappointing. The restaurant service was horrible. The servers were incredibly slow and seemed to ignore guests. After being seated, we waited over 15 minutes before anyone came to take our order. Eventually, I had to get up from the table and find our server just to be acknowledged. The breakfast buffet was nearly empty. There were no eggs, no bacon, and almost every other item was either very low or completely gone. When I asked if more food would be brought out, the response was simply, “Oh, really?” The server finally checked, and it took quite a while before anything was refilled. When the bacon finally arrived, it wasn’t even warm. The breakfast potatoes tasted like they had been dumped straight out of a frozen bag and were barely hot. To top it off, they were out of tomato juice entirely. The hotel itself was fine, but the breakfast restaurant was by far the worst part of our stay. For the price they charge, the quality and service simply don’t justify eating there. Save your money and walk next door to Starbucks or head down the road to McDonald’s—you’ll likely get a better breakfast, hotter food, faster service, and a much better overall experience.

Clean room, great location, friendly staff. Stayed for one night and appreciated ability to complete check-in online, select a room, and access digital key.
