RENAISSANCE

I'd first share that the beds are very comfortable, the room was clean, most of the staff was professional, welcoming as a whole, the lobby is beautiful. The restaurant was a different experience. First I'll warn you it's unfortunate the lobby area has plenty mosquitos, and occasional flies so you may find yourself swatting and eating. The morning hostess at the root and vine restaurant was a sweetheart, We received a proper and timely greeting. Our server came and was not a great experience she was very inattentive to the guest. The croissant that we ordered was taken out early so it sat out in the open on the counter the entire time the meals were being prepared, giving flies the opportunity to sit on unattended food. When our food was dropped off at our table I saw that a request of mine was not honored so she must not have communicated this to the cooks. They were talking so much about other things perhaps she was too busy to remember me. She was even on her cell phone. Restaurant staff huddled and talked so much that I was able to capture pictures (see below) this couldn't just be communicating about orders , all 3 tables were served. They talked so much that the server didn't come back until we were done. We never got a chance to ask for condiments or even boxes to escape the bugs . I didn't want to rudely interrupt in the occasion that they were actually busy but perhaps I should've left my seat and children to walk over to a huddle because she didn't check on us after receiving food. Lastly, the food was so bland. I do not recommend breakfast at fruit and vine and if you go at another time take your food to go .

I had a great stay here. The hotel was new and beautiful, well taken care of. I ended up with a room at the end of the hallway, and it was super quiet. I got a great night of sleep thanks to the comfortable bed, nice thick comforter, and an AC unit that worked really well. The location is good. It’s about a 15 minute walk to the national mall, so it was an easy walk without the need for a cab. The hotel also has a Starbucks in the lobby which is nice. Overall, this was a great hotel, and I’d stay here again.
