Days Inn and Suites Clearwater

Terrible experience! Rooms are very run down. Drug activity at the place. DO NOT GO TO THIS MOTEL!!!!

The WORST HOTEL we have ever stayed in. Like others, I would never recommend and would never stay in again. I don't understand how they manipulated Hotwire or a few reviews to claim to be a 2.5 * with 90% recommendations. Booked a "hot deal" on Hotwire where hotel name wasn't shown, but property was listed as 2.5 stars and 90% recommended. Hotwire said last booking was LaQuinta Inn. Not great, but not a dump like the Express Inn & Suites. Booked at $58 (paperwork at check in said $49, but with taxes and hidden fees we were charged $70...) and Hotwire assigned this 1.5 star hotel with many very bad (and accurate) reviews. Immediately called Hotwire and property and they both repeatedly falsely claimed property was accurately listed, safe, clean and all the many bad reviews were old/inaccurate (they are NOT - the bad reviews are very very true). I wanted to give hotel and room (135) the benefit of the doubt when we arrived. The front office reeked of the strongest air freshener I think I've every smelled. You could smell it outside with door closed. I have a bad cold and could barely breathe. Did not want to step foot inside office/check in again. Front desk person was nice though. We were very tired when we arrived and immediately unpacked and napped. On first glance the hotel room looked "kinda ok" and we figured we would suffer though it since Hotwire and the hotel would not budge on refunding due to the intentional misrepresentation of the property, but upon waking from nap we noticed serious safety issues and more (see my pictures). We quickly left for a scheduled event and then came back late. At that point we did not want to argue with Hotwire and the hotel again and just wanted to sleep and leave as soon as possible upon waking. Room and smoke smells just keep getting worse and I have documented everything in the hopes that Hotwire's inaccurate listing and practices will change and others won't be fooled into booking this unsafe dump. I had no interest in continuing to argue with Hotwire or the hotel while on vacation and on a set schedule. Property was very dirty, unsafe, apparently drug infested and dangerous. Tried to cancel ahead of time and then requested refund/correction after to no avail. But will continue to pursue compensation until it is made. I will continue to post/review/report to FTC, etc. and encourage others to do the same.

Drug infested place...people selling Heroin here and the owners know all about it! Not safe! Only transiets stay here and sell drugs here.The police are at this place every day. This place should be shut down.
