Discovery Beach Resort

Everything was very nice. If you are not into WiFi then this is the place for you. The only knock on this place for me was the WiFi. I have AT&T for phone service. In the room or on the balcony no service. Getting outside of the building or on the beach is no problem. Was told they were supposed to be upgrading their WiFi. I will go back when WiFi is fixed.

This is an update to previous post (deleted because Trip Advisor doesn’t let you edit posts?). This place is dated. Our room was not particularly clean. I ended up cleaning the floors myself before I felt somewhat comfortable. The water after cleaning indicated I was right and the floor had not been mopped in quite some time. It seems like most of the housekeeping staff would prefer if there weren’t any guests. Requesting fresh towels at the laundry room felt like it was somehow offensive to them. Other resorts I’ve stayed at have a towel exchange machine. Get one of its they big of a problem to exchange? There were signs for resort activities everywhere but I didn’t see any of them actually happen. I will say when activities were supposed to be happening at the pool, we WERE there and they didn’t happen. The internet was pretty terrible. On the 7th floor, we had 1 bar of WiFi most of the time. It was a crap shoot whether you were better off on the spotty coastal cell service or WiFi. The two bright spots of the stay were location and the cafe (which is technically separate from the resort), The location is conveniently close to Publix, the port, and the space museum (not walkable obviously but only a short drive). It’s also right on the beach about 300 yards from the pier. The cafe had good service and the food was pretty good. We had the blt, fish tacos, chicken strips, and a burger. The loaded nachos were good too. The drinks were strong and reasonably priced.

Got a room here for 1 night on Expedia for $203.00. Was advertised as an ocean view but if you get out on the 2nd floor youre looking at the mangroves instead. Room was clean but had a strong sewage smell at times and the bed was very old, squeaky and very uncomfortable. You could hear the springs loudly.
